Relevansi Nilai-Nilai Sosial dalam Ajaran Islam terhadap Penguatan Kohesi Sosial Masyarakat Modern

Muhammad Yusuf

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relevance of social values embedded in Islamic teachings to the strengthening of social cohesion in modern society. Social cohesion has become a crucial issue in contemporary social life due to increasing individualism, social fragmentation, and weakening communal bonds. This research employs a library research method by systematically reviewing classical Islamic texts, contemporary scholarly works, journal articles, and authoritative books related to Islamic social values and social cohesion theory. The data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach to identify key Islamic principles such as ukhuwah (brotherhood), justice, social responsibility, and mutual cooperation, and their correlation with social cohesion concepts in social sciences. The findings indicate that Islamic teachings provide a comprehensive moral and social framework that strongly supports social integration and collective harmony. Islamic values emphasize shared responsibility, empathy, and moral accountability, which function as social capital in strengthening trust and cooperation within society. The study concludes that Islamic social values remain highly relevant and applicable in addressing modern social challenges, particularly in fostering unity and cohesion in pluralistic societies. These findings contribute to interdisciplinary discourse between Islamic studies and social sciences by demonstrating that Islamic teachings offer normative solutions to contemporary social problems.
